THE IMPERIAL BALL is the first volume of THE WALPURGIS MASQUERADE, a dark visual storytelling collection inspired by nineteenth-century Russian aristocratic elegance, German Romanticism, European folklore, and the haunting mythology of Walpurgis Night.

The story follows Natasha Rostova, who arrives at a magnificent masquerade in Moscow believing she has been invited to an extraordinary imperial celebration.

At first, everything appears beautiful and familiar: candlelit ballrooms, gilded halls, elaborate gowns, masked aristocrats, orchestras, midnight banquets, and endless waltzes.

But something is wrong.

Reflections begin behaving differently from the people standing before them. Shadows reveal forms their owners do not possess. Portraits remember events that have not happened yet. Marble statues leave their pedestals. Masks seem to have lives of their own.

And among the hundreds of guests, Mephistopheles is always watching.

As midnight approaches, Russian imperial splendor gradually dissolves into a German Romantic nightmare. Palace corridors lead into impossible forests, chandeliers hang beneath supernatural skies, aristocrats become mysterious creatures, and the elegant waltz transforms into something ancient and otherworldly.

By the end of the night, the ballroom is no longer a ballroom at all.
